ABOUT ME

As a licensed massage therapist with more than twenty years experience, I provide therapeutic manual body work and massage to a wide variety of clients who range in age from eight to eighty.

I am uniquely qualified. I was originally trained as a Registered Nurse more than 40 years ago. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and hold a Master in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.

My career in health care has taken me from hospital nursing and teaching, to serving as a VISTA volunteer in rural Kentucky, to working with emotionally disturbed adolescents and managing the medical services for a Job Corps Center. Before becoming a full time massage therapist, I served nine years in a variety of positions with the American Red Cross.

My interest in massage grew out of a series of injuries that occurred during my athletic activities. My training in massage therapies is extensive and includes traditional massage techniques (Swedish and deep tissue massage, connective tissue massage, and biodynamic craniosacral therapy (see glossary). Additional training in various forms of energetic therapies has also shaped my practice. During the past 25 years, I have received a wide variety of manual therapies. As a result, I bring first-hand empathy to my practice.

I view each client from a holistic point of view that looks behind the obvious presenting problem and, as a result, my clients have benefited enormously from my work.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Maryland and nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I received my initial massage training from the Potomac Massage Training Institute, in Washington D.C., graduating in 1990. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
